Lunatic
A Lunatic is someone that's going crazy because of the moonlight. Making these pictures and writing my blog feels a little bit crazy sometimes. When I take these pictures, I often wait for people to leave the place, and then quickly pose on an empty bridge like this, and then I'll turn my back at the camera. This is something that turns people's heads wondering: "Why is this guy posing with his back towards the camera?" Maybe they think I'm crazy.
I don't know why I'm turning my back towards the camera. I just liked the look of it, and I kept doing it. They are easy to make, and it looks cool in perspective. I first realised this when I made the "Spirited Away" picture a while ago on 24 March 2021. Travel bloggers also take these kinds of cool pictures when they are standing on a crazy high cliff or something like the Grand Canyon, or when they are in the Swiss Alps or something. But I'm just here in my home country: the Netherlands, and I wanted to show "normal places", and find out if I can make them as interesting as something like the Grand Canyon or the Swiss Alps.
Anyway, I'm not a lunatic. At least, I don't look at myself that way. Maybe I'm a little bit crazy just like everyone else. You have to be a little bit crazy in order to be an artist. Don't you think?
Lunatic was the name of a Dutch television show I used to watch as a kid. The series took place in a mansion like this (I think it might be the exact same building but I'm not sure), and the place was supposed to be a facility for mental patients, a.k.a. "lunatics", hence the name of the show. The patients all had their own different crazy features: one man believed he was still a major in the army, another man sat in a wheelchair and ate way too much, a woman was depressed all the time, etc. And all these characters would end up in crazy stories where all sorts of things would obviously go wrong, and it was incredibly entertaining to watch. It wouldn't have been a great show if they were all sane people in a house. So I guess a little bit of "craziness" is good to have because life gets way more fun that way.
