Creative Nature
Yesterday I went on a walk with my friend Arthur in Nature. We saw little deers in the wild and we could walk right past them. We could get really close. It was a huge, amazing nature area, close to the dunes, but they paved these straight cobblestone roads right through the entire area, which made it feel just a little bit fake. It wasn't like we were really in nature that way.
A couple of posts ago, I talked about picking a point to focus on, and then you can just walk straight towards it. And of course, you can change streets, but what if you can stray off of the path?
It doesn't always need to be completely straightforward. No, that's impossible. Nature teaches us that we sometimes need to make turns and go around stuff. It just flows in all sorts of directions, and the more we try to control it, the less it will probably cooperate.
You can also compare this to the whole creative process. Sometimes letting go of it all is the best thing that you can do. That's exactly what I'm doing as well with my posts for the past few weeks.
Most people just know me as a musician, and I used to only create stuff around that. My whole identity was built around it, and with the pandemic of last year, this was extremely difficult to handle, since we were really limited by it as musicians. So right now I'm expressing myself through other things like writing my blog, creating art, taking pictures, taking walks, learning Japanese, reading, etc.
And behind the scenes, I'm still making music. So don't worry. Music will come to you again in the near future. But for now, I just want to say that I'm really happy with how things are right now. Maybe because I'm in balance with my creative nature again, and not standing too much in my own way.

I've also got a new studio that I'm sharing with @svendrummingnl @marieke.drums @simonesounds. I'm super grateful for having a place again with these other super creative people where I can practice. Please give them a follow for other awesome content!
Thanks, @arthurlooij for making this picture. 📸
